Construction is learned by doing.

At BUILD’N CREATE SOLUTIONS, we believe meaningful workforce development connects people with real work, experienced professionals, practical skills, and opportunities to see what a career in the skilled trades can look like.

Through hands-on learning, mentorship, career exposure, and work-based learning partnerships, participants can experience construction in a real professional environment while developing foundational skills they can carry into their next opportunity.

Our focus is simple: build better spaces while helping people build skills, confidence, and pathways toward opportunity.

Learning Pathways

From Career Exposure to Real-World Skills

We help bridge the gap between learning about a career and experiencing the work itself.

Our work-based learning approach gives participants opportunities to observe, practice, ask questions, work alongside experienced professionals, and develop an understanding of what it takes to work in construction and related skilled trades.

Depending on the partnership and participant’s goals, experiences may include:

  • Career Exposure & Mentorship
Learn directly from experienced construction professionals while gaining insight into skilled-trade careers and the realities of the workplace.

  • Hands-On Construction Skills
Develop foundational experience with tools, materials, jobsite practices, carpentry, renovation, property maintenance, and other construction-related activities.

  • Workplace & Career Readiness
Build practical habits around communication, teamwork, safety, reliability, problem-solving, and professional conduct.

This approach reflects an important principle of work-based learning: people develop stronger career understanding when they can connect learning with authentic workplace experiences.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPERIENCE

Skills That Connect to the Real World

BUILD’N CREATE SOLUTIONS can provide exposure to a range of construction and property-improvement activities, depending on the participant’s experience level, program requirements, project needs, and safety considerations.

Participants may gain exposure to:

Construction & Carpentry
Foundational construction practices, carpentry, framing, finish work, tools, materials, and jobsite organization.

Property Improvement & Maintenance
Hands-on exposure to repairs, maintenance, renovation, restoration, and the practical work involved in caring for residential and commercial properties.

Project Coordination & Professional Practice
An introduction to how real projects are planned and coordinated, including communication, scheduling, materials, teamwork, problem-solving, and working with experienced tradespeople.

The objective is not simply to teach someone how to perform a task. It is to help participants understand how construction work happens, where their skills can fit, and what pathways may exist beyond the experience.

WORK-BASED LEARNING PARTNERSHIPS

A Partnership Model Designed for Shared Impact

BUILD’N CREATE SOLUTIONS is interested in working with organizations that already serve youth, young adults, career seekers, and individuals preparing for employment or skilled-trade careers.

Through a work-based learning partnership, a participating organization can help identify and support an individual who is ready for hands-on experience.

Partnerships can be structured around the needs of the organization, participants, and project. Depending on the program and available resources, partners may provide participant support, compensation, training resources, or other program assistance, while BUILD’N CREATE contributes construction expertise, hands-on learning, project exposure, and supervision. Specific roles, responsibilities, and support arrangements can be developed together as part of the partnership.

The participant gains real-world experience.

The partner organization expands its workforce-development opportunities.

BUILD’N CREATE gains the opportunity to mentor developing talent while expanding its ability to contribute to projects and community-centered opportunities. It is a model built around shared responsibility and shared value.

Strong work-based learning partnerships are most effective when employers and workforce or education partners clearly define their roles, goals, participant support, and desired outcomes from the beginning.

WHY PARTNER WITH BUILD’N CREATE?

Real Projects. Real Skills. Real Opportunity.

A workforce-development partnership becomes more meaningful when participants can see how skills are actually used.

BUILD’N CREATE offers something that cannot be fully replicated in a classroom: exposure to the pace, problem-solving, teamwork, tools, materials, expectations, and decision-making that happen on real construction projects.

Our experienced professionals can provide guidance while participants develop foundational skills and learn what it means to contribute to a professional work environment.

For partner organizations, this creates another avenue for connecting participants to construction careers, skilled trades, work-based learning, career exploration, and hands-on workforce development.

For BUILD’N CREATE, it is an opportunity to invest in developing talent while contributing to the communities where we live and work.

We believe workforce development works best when businesses don’t simply talk about opportunity—they help create opportunities for people to experience it.
